Serengeti
Why Serengeti stays with you
The Serengeti is the safari of your imagination: grass plains running to the horizon, lion prides dozing on kopjes, and — for much of the year — the slow thunder of two million migrating animals.
It rewards time. A day shows you wildlife; three days show you drama. Our guides know which corner of this vast ecosystem is alive in any given week, and that knowledge is the difference between watching and witnessing.
Highlights
- The Great Migration river crossings (June – September in the north)
- Calving season on the southern plains (January – March)
- Big cats: the densest lion population in Africa
- Hot air balloon safaris at first light
- Kopjes — granite islands where leopards rest
Best time to visit
- June – October
Dry season; migration in the north, classic game viewing
- January – March
Calving season in the south; predators everywhere
- April – May
Green season; fewer visitors, dramatic skies, lower rates
